Salzburg

​ Salzburg is the fourth-largest city in Austria and the capital of the state of Salzburg. It is often referred to as the cultural capital of Austria. 

The city is located in the center of the country, right on the German border, and has a population of around 157,000. The state of Salzburg is an internationally renowned winter sports destination; it has hosted multiple World Cham- pionships in winter sports, most re- cently the 2025 FIS Alpine Ski World Championships in Saalbach, and has been home to the ISU Mozart Cup for many years. 

The city of Salzburg, orig- inally founded as Iuvavum during the Roman Empire, holds great historical significance for the Catholic Church.
